Thank you for your interest in the upcoming LAWASIA Annual Conference 2019 which will be held as planned in Hong Kong from 6th to 8th November 2019.

As you may know, a series of public order events have taken place recently in Hong Kong, much of which are reported in the news media. However, life and the usual activities in this bustling city largely goes on unimpeded. The possibility of future public order events and disruptions in scattered locations in Hong Kong cannot be ruled out, and you are encouraged to access the news media to keep updated and informed.

We have been advised that the 18th Chief Justices for Asia and the Pacific Conference has been postponed, however we have also been informed that other conferences and events during the Hong Kong Restructuring Week (from 14th October), Hong Kong Arbitration Week (from 20th October), Investment Law and Investor-State Mediator Training (from 28th Oct) and Hong Kong Legal Week (from 4th November) are presently proceeding as planned. After careful assessment of the current situation, the organising committee is pleased to announce that the 32nd LAWASIA Conference and the 14th LAWASIA International Moot Competition will proceed as planned.

The operation of the city’s public transport is generally normal though at times, some lines are provided on limited scale and operation hours. For the latest updates please refer to and HKSAR Government’s website. For Hong Kong’s general updates, please visit the Hong Kong Government’s website.

You are advised to review information from official sources and news media, and weigh all relevant factors in making your own assessment and decision on the prevailing situation in Hong Kong.

We also encourage you to visit the Conference website for any special announcements about the Conference.

We look forward to welcoming you in Hong Kong for the 32nd LAWASIA Conference and the 14th LAWASIA International Moot Competition.

Christopher Leong,
President of LAWASIA

About the Conference

The Annual Conference is LAWASIA’s flagship event and the highlight of its professional events program.  The Conference is a platform for the convergence of bar leaders, jurists, professional organisations and individual lawyers from across the Asia Pacific, and is designed to facilitate the discussion of regional developments in law, including such issues as judicial practice, legal education, cross border business and investment law and cross-border dispute resolution.

As a generalist legal event, the Annual Conference also serves as an important forum for sharing ideas, building professional networks, reinforcing shared professional values, advocating for the rule of law in varied jurisdictions, and advancing the status of the legal profession in the Asia Pacific.

LAWASIA is pleased to invite the participation of members and legal professionals at the 32nd LAWASIA Conference: Harmonisation through Synergy, to be held in Hong Kong SAR, China from 5-8 November 2019.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Conference.
